All my life I have been fascinated by potions and perfumes; as a child I lived in an English Victorian house and in the garden there were four huge rose beds, full of very old roses which had a myriad of different, heady perfumes. Almost weekly, my mother would remove bowls of soaking petals from my bedroom before they became slimy, as I experimented with trying to make the perfect perfume.
